After nearly 20 years of dedicated service as an insurance agent at Bitner Henry, Ken Bird has decided to embark on a new chapter: retirement.
Ken’s journey in the world of insurance began shortly after college, when he was faced with a choice between ministry and law school. Fate intervened when an ad for church insurance agents caught his eye, setting him on a different path. He joined Church Mutual in 1984, serving the North Carolina territory.
When Ken arrived at Bitner Henry in 2005, North Carolina was already well-covered by insurance agents. Embracing the spirit of adventure, he readily agreed to relocate and focus on the Georgia market. For the first six months, he made the four-hour drive from his home in High Point, North Carolina, to Athens, Georgia, every week, a testament to his dedication and resilience.
Ken cherishes many memories from his career, particularly one involving a church presentation. Invited to speak to the entire congregation after their service, he playfully described himself as their “insurance savior.” His humor and charisma resonated, resulting in a new customer and a lasting impression.
As Ken leaves the world of insurance behind, he leaves behind words of wisdom for the next generation of agents. He encourages them to maintain perspective, find joy in collaboration, and prioritize kindness and helpfulness. These values, he emphasizes, are the key to navigating challenging days and making the most of the good times.
Retirement promises exciting opportunities for Ken. He plans to spend quality time with his four grandchildren, indulge his passion for golf, and explore the North Carolina mountains with his wife, hiking, connecting with nature, and appreciating God’s beauty.
We at Bitner Henry Insurance Group are deeply grateful for Ken’s exceptional service and contributions. While we will miss his presence, we wish him all the very best in his well-deserved retirement.
